Search Engine Optimization: Building Links

We have discussed about three types of links: Multi-way links, reciprocal links and one-way links in my previous post. So how to build links? There are a lot of different approaches to do that as follows:

Submit to Directories

There are many web directories such as Google and Yahoo. Most of direstories provide various categories which you can submit your web site to according to the specific site topic. Only appropriate backlinks from appropriate categories are beneficial for your web site. Web directory is also a good place to find possible partners to build a reciprocal link between you two sites. Remember, look through the sites in different categories as your owns as those ones which belong to the same category as your site may be probably your competitors. There is no way to build a reciprocal link between you two.

Comment in Blogs

To find blogs writing about your topic is not hard. Such kind of links are relevant and can bring a relatively high weight. Start to comment in related blogs leaving a name with a link to your website. Do not leave a link in your comment, as which seems to be a spam and may not be verified by blog owners. Return and comment frequently so as to know the poster and the other commenters.  By doing this, other commenters will begin to recognize your name and follow the link in your name back to your website if you are always providing good feedback.

Check Log File

Check your server log file to find out where your website traffic come from and what site people used to find you.  Pursue similar websites for more link populatiries.
