Massive landslide in Anshun City of Guizhou Province, China
June 28, at 2 pm, Guanling Bouyei nationality and Miao nationality Autonomous County in Anshun City of Guizhou Province encountered two landslides caused by heavy rainstorm, resulting in 38 families about 107 people buried. Premier Wen Jiabao made important instructions rapidly to ask related organizations to find out the true situation, to do everything possible to rescue people and also to prevent similar incidents around the region to ensure the safety of the people. Vice Premier Hui Liangyu rushed to the disaster area.It is reported by the rescue commanding center that the survival possibility of the buried’s is unlikely. Now the rescue work became very difficult as a heavy rain fell thoughout the day, the landslide continued, and rescuers need to walk five kilometers to reach the scene.
After the disaster, the main leadership of Anshun Municipal Party and Municipal Government arrived at the scene to carry out the relief work. At present, the local government has organized armed police, firefighters and more than 600 cadres and the masses are searching for more survivors and relocating the affected people. More than 350 people have been transferred so far, and 280 families about 1200 people from other six villagers need to be transferred.Reference:
