A siberian tiger appears in Heilongjiang China
Siberian tiger, Sumatran rhinoceros, Eschrichtius robustus, Red Wolf, Mustela nigripes, Crocodylus mindorensis, Gorilla beringei beringei, Glyphis gangeticus, Pongo abelii and Gymnogyps californianus are top 10 most endangered animals in the red list of International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) Red.
As one of Siberian tiger’s birthplaces, the Chinese government attaches great importance to the protection of Siberian tigers. apart from a number of nature reserves, the government also established Heilongjiang Northeast Tiger Forest Park (the world’s largest Siberian tiger breeding base for artificial feeding) and a Siberian tiger gene pool to ensure the genetic diversity of Siberian tigers. In the mean time, the Siberian tiger appears in northeastern China frequently.
February 25, 2010, a wild Siberian tiger was found in the crevice of woodpile near Dong Fang Hong Forestry Bureau in Heilongjiang China. Under the guidance of experts, the tiger was rescued successfully more than 20 hours later. It is reported that the rescued cub was female with the weight of 28.5 kg. The experts said the cub got lost on the way of finding food following with the tigress, and it drilled into the the crevice of woodpile hastily after having found by a dog.
June 20, 2010, a wild Siberian tiger reappeared in Heilongjiang. As the master of Siberian tiger monitoring station from Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) Yingchun Forestry Bureau, Dong Hongyu said this is a native species and available data displayed that the survival time of this native tiger may be reached to five or six years.
June 15, Dong Hongyu led a team into the Yongfeng forest to look for suspicious traces of this native tiger. They found 7 clear and complete footprints in the mud beside a stream. In the 50 meters away, they found a cattle was attacked and dragged more than 40 meters long. Dong Hongyu immediately made a judge after the field survey that the tiger was the one they have been tracking these years and it has survived for about 5 to 6 years. It is most likely to be a female adult wild Siberian tiger with a Field of activity about more than 400 square kilometers. Now they haven’t yet found any sign of the exsistence of a male Siberian tiger.
