Search Engine Optimization: Spamming comments will hurt your blog

For the purpose of search engine optimization, we have always been spending a large amount of time on link building precedure including blog commenting, forum posting, directory submission and link exchanging. Here I will talk about blog commenting. There are many other people doing the same thing as you. You comment on others’ blogs, and maybe they are just doing the same thing to your blog. You must know that you do this and so do others as you two have the same goal. That is what I’m going to say how to set up comment filter algorithm for your own blog to remain the real valuable comments while not spamming comments as they can do nothing but hurt your blog.

Several days ago, Google Webmaster Blog issued a post that give about a detailed infomation about how spamming comments can lower a website’s ranking. Since that, if you didn’t pay much attention to such spamming cemments before, maybe now it’s time to do so. Thereby improve your filter algorithm to filter out the spamming comments. What’s more, the post also referred that such a commenting link can not only hurt the blog’s ranking but also the commentator’s own site if the comment is not relevant with the post.

You don’t want to hurt your own site, but how could do that? You can check the link by yourself to see that if it comes from a blog or site that has notiing to do with your post topic. If not, delete it. Sometimes you may receive a lot of comments a day, and the following tips will help you:

1. All the anonymous comments should be disallowed.
2. Open the comment moderation option for your blog.
3. All the hyperlinks in comments should be disallowed.
4. CAPTCHAs and other methods which can prevent automated spamming comment should be applied.
5. Use robots.txt or meta tags for blocking comment pages.
6. “nofollow” attribute for linking in comment field should be used if you are not willing to disallow them.
