Search Engine Optimization: Which SEO mistakes should I avoid

We don’t want to waste time and energy we have input into search engine optimization before. However some mistakes will hinder your beautiful dream to come true. So you should first understand that which seo mistakes you should avoid.

1. Too many target keywords

Some people may determine too many keywords for their sites for the purpose of a quick and extensive seo result. This is not good as the maximum number of keywords for a site is 10, as search engines will punish the sites with too many keywords and they will be pushed to the bottom of the search results. So make sure that your site has 10 keywords at most.

2. Too long titles

Many webmasters think that adding more keywords into the title tag is beneficial to improve the keyword rankings. This is a common seo mistake. The reasonable length of a title tag should be limited to 70 characters. Make sure your title is brief enough with proper keywords appearence time under the premise of clear summarization of the page.

3. Too many CSS

It touchs on the web design. In the past, designers like to use CSS to implement some features. But now CSS is not so popular ever following with the needs of search engine optimization, as search engines can not identify the page created by CSS and they like HTML much more. So it’s time for your site to abadon CSS and start to use HTML language to achieve the same feature.

4. Miss the alt attribute

Alt attribute is supposed to provide text info when the ender users’s browsers can not clearly display the image. Add alt attributes to each of your site’s images to make sure that both search engines and users can know that what infomation your images want to convey.

5. Less backlinks

We all know that backlink is the major work during off-site optimization procedure. If you site has only one or two backlinks, basically it’s impossible to get a deisred ranking in the search result pages. I have mentioned several methods to get backlinks in my last posts. You should spend enough time and energy on link building.

6. Too hot keywords

Sometimes, you may find that there is not any improvement of keyword ranking although you have achieved a lot of backlinks. Maybe your keyword is the problem and it’s too hot. So many competitors are working on that and you should spend larger energy on that. We don’t usually suggest you to do that. The most popular recommendedproposal is to change your old keywords and choose ones who are not so hot.
