Search Engine Optimization: How to check your backlinks?
As the crucial step of search engine optimization, backlink building should be paid enough attention to. Since you have began to blog commenting, forum posting, directory submission and other link building strategies, how could you check your backlinks to find out which one is more effective and determine which one deserves more energy. Backlink checking not only cares about the quantity but the quality.
First, you should check how many backlinks you have got. Yahoo is the first choice as Google can not honestly tell you how many links you have got. Go to the Yahoo site explorer (https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/), enter your website URL, press the search button, and then there is the search results. The first thing the result gives to you is the number of pages on the site, which is not you want. Skip it and click the “inlinks” button, the result which brings is the links pointing to your website, including links from your own site. To remove your own links, choose the “except from this domain” and the result is more precise.
Then, it’s time to check your backlinks’ quality. PR is the direct factor to measure the website’s value. If you only get backlinks form those websites which has only PR2, PR1 or even PR0. You should restart seraching for high value backlinks by blog commenting, foum posting, and other submissions. Besides, you can use this process to check your competitor’s website which target the same keywords as you. You can find some probablr backlink you have just missed. Turn to look for them no matter it’s a blog, forum or a website. Just do your best to stive for that.
To get a better search engine optimization effect, backlink quality is much more important then backlink quantity.
